New York Mills girls, Remsen boys claim Class D indoor track and field titles

The New York Mills girls and the Remsen boys team each won a title at the Section III Class D indoor track and field championships on Thursday at the SRC Arena on the Onondaga Community College campus.

New York Mills recorded 109 points to take the title. Poland was second with 97 and Remsen was third with 83.

Arianna Piazza led the Marauders by winning both the 1,000 run in 3:15.27 and the 600 run in 1:47.05.

Kadence Barton from Waterville was a triple event winner, taking the 55 dash with a personal record finish of 7.6. She also won the long jump with a personal record leap of 17-05.25 and she was part of the Eagles’ winning 800 relay.

Boys

Remsen dominated the Class D event and finished with a team score of 190 points. Waterville was second with 81 points and New York Mills was third with 60 points.

The Rams Zachary Helmer was a triple-event winner. He captured the 55 hurdles with a personal record time of 8.69, scored a personal record leap of 20-9 in the long jump and took the triple jump in 38-10.
