Syracuse, N.Y. — The man whose downtown restaurant has won seven of the past eight New York Best Burger championships is opening a new bar in Syracuse’s Armory Square, this one built around an iconic local sandwich.

Matt Beach, the owner of Ale ‘n Angus on Harrison Street, signed a lease Thursday night to take over the storefront at 290 W. Jefferson St., last home to a Starbucks.
