With a win on Sunday, the San Francisco 49ers can do something only two NFL teams have done before: Win six Super Bowls.
The 49ers would join the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New England Patriots atop the all-time Super Bowl standings. The Steelers are 6-2 and the Patriots are 6-5.
The 49ers (5-2) and Dallas Cowboys (5-3) are the only teams to win five Super Bowls.
The Kansas City Chiefs, the Niners’ opponent on Sunday, are 3-2 in the Super Bowl. Current coach Andy Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs to two of those wins.
Four teams are undefeated in their Super Bowl appearances: The Baltimore Ravens (2-0), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-0), New Orleans Saints (1-0) and New York Jets (1-0).
Eight teams are winless in the Super Bowl: The Buffalo Bills (0-4), Minnesota Vikings (0-4), Cincinnati Bengals (0-3), Atlanta Falcons (0-2), Carolina Panthers (0-2), Arizona Cardinals (0-1), Los Angeles/San Diego Chargers (0-1) and Tennessee Titans (0-1).
And four teams have never made it to the four teams: The Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars.
